For Pierre Rehov, life only took on true meaning when he began putting it at risk. He had been a movie producer, a novelist, a journalist and a lawyer. But none of those professions satisfied his searching soul. In moments of deep personal introspection he questioned himself, “Who and what am I really?” For him, the answer came when he turned on the news on October 6, 2000, and saw the images of the shooting of Mohammed al-Dura, the 12 year-old Palestinian boy, whom Israel was summarily accused of targeting.  “I was in shock,” says Rehov, who rarely watches the pro-Arab French broadcasts. “In this case, I knew as a producer that there was something very fishy about the images. The angles just weren’t right.”

The day after al-Dura was shot, there was a pro-Palestinian rally in the streets of Paris, where the participants screamed, “Death to the Jews.” Rehov was reminded of one century ago when the exact same antisemitic scene played itself out on the streets of Paris prompted by the Alfred Dreyfus trial. Rehov’s instincts told him that the death of Mohammed al-Dura was another blood libel against the Jews. “I knew that I was no Herzl, but I had to do something,” Rehov says.

Since the uprising of the second intifada Pierre Rehov has directed six major documentaries. Five of which are now available on DVD.

The proceeds from the sale of Pierre Rehov’s films go to Mr. Rehov for the continuing advancement and production of his work.

THE SILENT EXODUS

They were more than a million Jews. Between 1946 and 1974, this million is the number of forgotten fugitives, expelled from the Arab world, and whom history would like to forget, while the victims themselves have hidden their fate under a veil of modesty. The Jews have been living in Arabic lands for thousands of years and seemed to accept their fate forever, some even considering their survival as a miracle.

But 1948, the beginning of their exodus, was also the birth of the State of Israel.

And, while the Arab armies were preparing to invade the young refugee-country, while the survivors of the Shoah were piling up in dangerous boats to fulfill at last the return to the land of their dreams and their prayers, a few hundred thousand Arabs from Palestine were getting ready to flee their home, convinced that they would return as winners and conquerors.

They were soon going to fill up the refugee camps built on their brothers’ land, and – because of their refusal to integrate – pass on their refugee status to the next generations.

The Jews did not get any special status. They had just returned to the Land of their fathers

And if they came from Aden, Yemen, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia or Libya, if they had lost everything and sometimes even relatives, memories and cemeteries, it is in Israel and the west that they were ready to rebuild their lives. Without ever asking for any compensation, any right to return, or even wishing that their story be told…

THE ROAD TO JENIN

This film starts with difficult images of the Netanya bombing on Passover evening and with an account by a victim who lost her husband. Operation Defensive Shield, launched by Israel, is the direct consequence of this terrorist act.

Active images follow: Tsahal tanks go into the camp, dynamiting terrorist suspect houses, fighting in the streets. The fighting was particularly violent in Jenin. Aircraft and helicopters could have bombed the camp, but the army did not do so in order to avoid harming civilians – a reservists explains. Narrow streets meant the tanks could not enter the camp and twenty three Israeli soldiers were killed.

The third part of the film is, without doubt, the most captivating: Rehov went to Jenin with a Palestinian team and managed to reveal the “lies” of many of the “witnesses to the massacre” he interviewed.

A shocking document!!

HOLY LAND: CHRISTIANS IN PERIL

Why has there been a great-and little reported-Christian exodus from the Middle East, with some two million fleeing in the past 20 years alone?

One of the most important aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that has been overlooked is the plight of Christians in the Holy Land. Christians in the Palestinian territories have dropped from 15 percent of the Arab population in 1950 to just two percent today. This Christian exodus is a result of many factors, including the fighting between Israelis and Palestinians, the related decline of the economy, but perhaps most significantly, the religious persecution these Christians encounter from their Muslim neighbors.

THE TROJAN HORSE in combination with abridged HOLY LAND: CHRISTIANS IN PERIL

This DVD contains the original “Trojan Horse” in combination with a newly edited version of “Holy Land: Christians in Peril” that shows – in a one-two punch – how the so-called “intifadah” and “jihad” is not really an effort to “free the occupied lands” but a movement to throw out – not only the Jews – but also all other non-Muslim groups – the “infidels” from all Islamic countries and territories, including Israel.

THE HOSTAGES OF HATRED

After having shown the plight of the million Jews who, from the mid-1940s, had to flee the countries they and their forefathers had lived in for centuries, those most discreet refugees whose story had never been told this way, Pierre Rehov has filmed the other side of a same coin : the fate of the Palestinians refugees that everyone has heard about. Refugees that are shown on the world's television screens practically day in day out and whose plight is supposedly so well-known. But refugees whose fate we, in fact, know so little about.

In his latest film, "The Hostages of Hatred" Pierre Rehov sets out to tell us the real story of those men, women and children, who have been shamefully used as mere pawns for over 50 years, by Arab leaders at first, by Palestinian leaders later on and until this very day but also by the United Nations' body that was specially created to supposedly take care of them : the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNWRA.

To tell the real story of these people Pierre Rehov has sent teams to film actual refugees in refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, the Gaza Strip and he has shot footage himself in the West Bank. As in all his films, he exposes thus nuggets of truth hidden among the well-rehearsed propaganda speeches. We see the poverty the refugees are deliberately kept in, we see the pain, we see the nurtured hatred, we see the false hopes those people are raised on. But we also see the same hatred combined with a wealth you would not expect.

And, as usual too, Pierre Rehov mixes these first-hand testimonies with the counterpoint of extremely well-researched and enlightening documents, in-depth analyses form historians and politicians like Shlomo Ben Ami, former Israeli Foreign Minister, or the Congressman Eric Cantor. And also a Palestinian Oslo negotiator, an advisor to Arab leaders or a Palestinian Human Rights Activist.

As for the carefully chosen music, it enhances further the dramatic quality of the film.

FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA
Available October 1st 2008

Best (short) film, LIBERTY FILM FESTIVAL
According to most Palestinians, "Israeli Occupation" means Tel Aviv, Ber Sheva and Haifa, and for their leaders, Palestine should be built "From the River to the Sea". Meaning, should replace Israel, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

In this disturbing film, "From the River to the Sea", a revised version of "Hostages of Hatred" acclaimed director Pierre Rehov sets out to tell us the real story of those men, women and children, who have been shamefully used as mere pawns for over 50 years, by Arab leaders at first, by Palestinian leaders later on and until this very day but also by the United Nations' body that was specially created to supposedly take care of them: the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNWRA.

FIRST COMES SATURDAY
THEN COMES SUNDAY
Available October 1st 2008

Why has there been a great-and little reported-Christian exodus from the Middle East, with some two million fleeing in the past 20 years alone?

This Christian exodus is a result of many factors, including the fighting between Israelis and Palestinians, the related decline of the economy, but perhaps most significantly, the religious persecution these Christians encounter from their Muslim neighbors.

"First comes saturday, then commes sunday "is a well known sentence in the Middle East meaning : "First we take care of the Jews (who pray on saturday) then we will take care of Christians, the "sunday people"

Pierre Rehov addresses again this alarming trend in his new film, a sequence of "Holy Land: Christians in Peril. The film is a documentary containing interviews with Christians as well as exclusive footage showing how dangerous their Situation is under Islamic rule.
